Sound Words and Sound Teaching
Recently a brother related to us how he had been discussing a point of teaching with a friend who fellowships with a large national church. The friend quoted their denominational position as taught by tradition through their elders, for that was his appeal to authority. It was pointed out to him that he had never searched the scriptures about the matter, and only believed it because his church taught it. The brother remarked "You only believe that because your church teaches it. If you went to another church with different teaching, you would believe what they taught"
This was not point scoring, and is sadly typical of a great many believers. Almost all sect (all divisions are sectarian) bear the stamp of a forceful teacher who was able to impress his own understanding on many others. This becomes formal doctrine, held by that denomination, not because of scriptural research, but by the force of that teachers personality. It is significant that all the members of these organizations hold exactly the same views. Their faith is in the sect (denomination) not in the word of God.
Often such people are well able to argue their case about a dis-puted matter, yet are unaware of the great truths of justification and (re)conciliation. These critical matters are just not understood, and are given little attention by many teachers. Were they properly understood much error would lapse.
We often repeat: "Doctrine must be expressed in the actual words of scripture, rightly divided and consistently translated. It should be taken from passages that are clearly teaching that subject, not inferred from casual texts and historical incidents. We often tell our friends "Every believer wants to fellowship with others, but such gatherings always have their own dogma. Stay friends, don't disagree, but quote the scriptures in your mind and believe them, not what the sect teaches." More now than ever, we should heed Paul's admonition: "Stand by the Word." This is not just another website telling you how to live. All of us have been taught religious things that make it hard to hear truth. It seems foolish to build on all that our past piers have said. We must learn for ourselves either from the written word of God, revelations direct from God or from a person having received direct from God. We should not fear words such as grace, (forgiveness - forever), and all saved.
Words so important as destruction should be looked up in at least the Strong's dictionary at the back of your bible. Many Christians do not know what "Jesus The Christ" did. Knowing Jesus died is good but knowing why and what good it did makes you and your Father God happy.
If you do not know what He did for you it would seem very smart to try to save yourself. The law does not save but was designed to bring us to Christ. Jesus said, "If I be lifted up (cross) I will draw (Gr. drag) all men to me." The benefits of letting Jesus save you while you are young are far better than the long hard road of sin (hard knocks).
You will learn who and how many God will save...few...lot...all? This entire website talks about how your Christian life will be when Jesus calms your soul. You will learn to "walk by "grace" from your heavenly Father and on-lookers will think you are keeping the law on purpose. Dare to give up your credits from your friends or pastor for that you do. Learn why Jesus did what He did and what He will do. You will then give Him the credits He deserves? Your life will never be the same when you learn no one will burn in fire forever.
We can cut out the silly things we do so we can be with God and accept what "Jesus" has done so we can be with God.
"For therefore we both labor and suffer reproach because we trust in the living God, Who is the Savior of all men, especially of those that believe - 1st Tim. 4:10. Have you ever wondered what this scripture means? Forget what you have been taught and read it for your self. God, Who is the Savior of all men, especially of those that believe" Thank You Father.
